A new European Action plan for the implementation from the European Pilar of social rights. ESO draws attention to European senior policy.

26 September 2025

A new European Action plan for the implementation from the European Pilar of social rights. ESO draws attention to European senior policy.

Just before the summer holidays, the European Commission launched a consultation on the development of a new action plan for the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights. European civil society and active citizens had until September 10th to submit their recommendations, requests, and proposals to the Commission.

“The European Pillar of Social Rights is the EU’s blueprint for a fairer and more inclusive Europe that protects its citizens while contributing to better living and working conditions. The new action plan aims to go further in implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights and help EU countries, within the parameters of their social models, reach the EU’s 2030 headline social targets.”

The European Commission now wants to propose a new action plan for the implementation of the European Social Pillar. This action plan should serve as a framework or roadmap for European social policy for the current legislature until 2029. In that sense, it is important to be present into the debate. In the preparatory stage in the consultation by the Commission, but also later when the European Parliament, the Comity of the regions or the Council of ministers have to discuss and decide on the Commission’s proposal. With ESO, we have contributed to this public consultation based on our Electoral Memorandum and our 2024-2029 action programme, and based on our values as solidarity, equality, respect for fundamental rights, and democracy. You can find our contribution on the European Commission’s website or on our de ESO website.
